A 5-year old boy is dead and a 23-year old man is in critical condition after vehicles they were traveling in collided.

Cory Childers, 23, of Bedford was driving a Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Route 220 in Bedford Township early Sunday morning when he traveled across the double yellow line, directly into the path of a Mazda MPV carrying two adults and two children, a police report states.

A 5-year old boy was ejected from the vehicle, the report states, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 2-year old boy sustained moderate injuries as did the driver, Rory Jenkins, 52, and passenger Amanda Winters, 28. They are from Hagerstown, Md.

Bedford state police are investigating the crash. No charges have been filed. Childers is at Altoona Regional in critical condition, hospital staff said.
