The Dairy Queen at 701 Valley View Blvd. is expected to reopen with cool treats this weekend, according to the new owners.
Frownko LP, comprised of Matthew, Rick and Henry Fownes, Delaney Berry and Chris Kopac, recently purchased the Valley View Boulevard and Duncansville Dairy Queens and is the developer for the DQ Grill and Chill to be built at Logan Town Centre.
"We are dealing with some deferred maintenance issues, cleaning and fixing equipment," said Matthew Fownes, managing partner.
The Duncansville location reopened Tuesday to serve ice cream products, but Fownes said hot foods won't be available at either location for a week or two.
Groundbreaking at the Logan Town Centre site, along Osgood Drive, between Chili's Grill & Bar and the site designated for a Texas Roadhouse restaurant, is expected any day now with an anticipated opening date of Oct. 1, Fownes said.
The DQ Grill and Chill, with indoor seating for 85 to 90 patrons and a drive-thru, has been described as an updated Dairy Queen, with similar versions in State College and Pittsburgh.
