Nancy Naomi Bechtel, 89, Martinsburg, passed away late Thursday afternoon at The Village at Morrisons Cove, Martinsburg.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Emanuel and Hannah (Longenecker) Metzker. She married C. Carl Bechtel on May 4, 1945, in Roaring Spring. He passed away Nov. 30, 1989.
Surviving are three sons: Gary L. and wife, Carolyn, of Martinsburg, Lowell B. and wife, Peggy, of Greenwood, Del., and Reed C. and wife, Marsha, of Powell, Ohio; six grandchildren: Christopher, Laura, Nathan, Bradley, Bryant and Sarah; two great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Brian; and a sister, Sarah Glass of Modesto, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Lowell Bechtel; two sisters: Bertha Hoover and Maryanna Metzker; and two brothers: Ira Metzker and Orville Metzker.
Mrs. Bechtel was a 1940 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. She was a member of Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, where she was a former member of the adult choir. She was a former member of Martinsburg Boosters Association and North Woodbury Grange.
Nancy was primarily a homemaker, but had assisted her husband as a secretary in the daily operation of his business, Carl Bechtel Insurance Agency, Martinsburg.
Nancy enjoyed painting, knitting, solving puzzles and reading.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at Memorial Church of the Brethren, with her son, Lowell B. Bechtel, officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family requests memorial contributions be given to Memorial Church of the Brethren.
