Francis A. Bailey Sr., 77, Northern Cambria, died Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.
He was born in Patchinville, son of the late Delmont and Winnetta Flossie (Woodside) Bailey.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Kathleen Marian (Davis); 10 children: Sharon (Terry) Watson and Kathleen (Brent) Weaver, both of Cherry Tree, Geraldine (Gary) Keith, Francis Jr. and friend, Denise, Gloria (John) Getsy and Robert (Christine), all of Northern Cambria, Carol (James) Edwards of Saltsburg, Roger (Sherry) of Mount Joy, Kenneth (Joyce) of Portage and Janice (Stephen) Kline of Hastings; 24 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Florence Pierce, Elma Montgomery, Velma Brannan, Linda Crum and Catherine Denning; and three brothers: Wilbert, Daniel and Delmont.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Truman, Eugene, Lester and Darl.
Francis was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired as an equipment operator for the Ebensburg Center. He was a member of Spangler United Methodist Church as well as the American Legion Post 569 for 42 years. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, going to the movies and especially spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc., Northern Cambria. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Spangler United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Uniontown Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by local veteran organizations.
