William P. Burrows, 58, Altoona, died Monday at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Paul M. and Clee H. (Howe) Burrows.
Surviving are his wife, Amy Jo; a son, William P. Jr. of Altoona; a daughter, Jennifer Lechner and husband, Jeff, of Altoona; two stepchildren: Robert Horon Jr. and wife, Angel, and Taushya Milliron and husband, Jesse, both of Altoona; six grandchildren: Delaney, Dane, Korbyn, Angelina, Faith and Jacob; and his "girls": Foxy and Babe.

Bill was a 1972 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a patrolman from Logan Township Police Department on April 6, 2012, after 25 years of service. He also worked at the Altoona Hospital Police Department and Blair County Sheriff's Department.
Bill attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Mountain City Lodge 8 and the Bavarian Aid Society and was a life member of Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as assistant chief, vice president and trustee.
Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona. A funeral service outside of Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church by Monsignor Robert C. Mazur. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
