Robert C. Claar, 79, Claysburg, passed away Tuesday at home.

He was born in Queen, son of the late Chester and Edith (Harr) Claar. He married Janet Weyant on Oct. 4, 1955, in Klahr.

Surviving are his wife of Claysburg; a daughter, Karla of Claysburg; two sons: Stephen and wife, Linda, of Claysburg and Kent of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren: Shawn Claar and wife, Christina, Angela, Stephen and Shannon Claar and Miranda Glass; three great-granddaughters: Emily and Rebecca Claar and Samantha Barnes; two brothers: Roger of Queen and Carl of Manns Choice; and four sisters: Shirley Weyant and Rhonda Feather, both of Queen, and Mary Brown and Carol Bollman, both of Imler.

He was preceded in death by four brothers: John, Mayberry, Ronald and Chet.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, in 1981 and also owned and operated Claar Auto Body, Claysburg. He was a member of Rotary International and Woodbury Lodge, F&AM. He enjoyed working on cars, talking to people, wildlife, walking and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Blankley officiating. Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.
