Francis Thomas ‘Frank’ Campion Jr.

Francis Thomas "Frank" Campion Jr., 65, Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in New York City, son of the late Francis T. Sr. and Margaret (Krcha) Campion. He married Elizabeth DiBlasi on Dec. 23, 1966, at St. Frances de Chantal Catholic Church on Long Island.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years; two daughters: Vivian (Al) Desiderio of Philadelphia and Jennifer Way and Richard Boyle of Hollidaysburg; three granddaughters: MaggieAnne, Victoria and Nikki; five grandsons: Victor, Vincent, Valen, Albert and Tommy; two brothers: Thomas in New York and William; and his parents-in-law, Theodore and Catherine DiBlasi in New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by a son, Staff Sgt. Francis T. III; and a sister, Patricia Gottlieb.

Frank served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He earned an associate degree from the New York Institute of Technology in business management and accounting. He retired as a pipeline operator for Buckeye Pipeline Co. with 38 years of service. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister.

Frank served as a scoutmaster for Troop 35 and enjoyed many outdoor scouting activities. For the past six years, he had gone to Haiti to assist in the outreach building projects sponsored by the Carmelite Community of the Word. He was also a member of the Carmelite Society of the Incarnation.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church by the Rev. Michael Becker.
