James J. Tecca, 69, Altoona, a former Tyrone resident, died Thursday at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
He was born in Toronto, Ohio, son of Michael John and Catherine A. (Myers) Tecca. He married Mary Ann Robison Kelly on March 29, 1984, in Winchester, Va., and she preceded him in death May 27, 2007.
Surviving are three children: Nancy (Robert) Spradling of Altoona, David Kelly of New Paltz, N.Y., and Patrick Kelly Jr. of Lewistown; five grandchildren: Brandon and Devin Spradling of Altoona, Erin and Jace Kelly of Lewistown and Erika Kelly of New Paltz, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren.
James was a graduate of Hialeah High School in Hialeah, Fla. He was employed as a floral designer and greenhouse attendant by Engelman Florists of Tyrone from 1976-94. He then worked as an assistant lead shift of the Slicing Department of Kunzler's, retiring on disability in 2001. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, and a former member of St Matthew's Catholic Church, Tyrone.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Father Jozef Kovacik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tyrone.
