I am writing in response to a letter to the editor that ran in the July 9 Mirror, written by Dean Hinton of Hastings, "Bring God back into schools." Bravo for every word of it. Bravo for expressing his concern on this very most important and vital subject.
A lot of people say the most important issue in our country today is the economy - jobs. I think those people are way off base. A far more important issue is the moral decline in this country.
As Hinton has stated, this decline accelerated when all religion was removed from the schools and what a terrible price our children are paying; what a terrible price our country is paying,
If either of the two men seeking the upcoming presidency were to express concern over this vital issue and vow to do something about it, I believe it would be a landslide victory for that man.
For I am sure Hinton is only one of the millions who share this concern. Hinton said we need to pray. Yes, most certainly. But also, we must act.
