James B. Fedesco

James B. Fedesco, 82, a resident of Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, died early Sunday morning at Altoona Regional.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late James J. and Mary (Salomie) Fedesco. He first married Alrue Holsinger, who preceded him in death on June 12, 1992. He next married Betty J. O'Shell on April 27, 1996, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Tommy of Hollidaysburg and Barry Lee of Suffolk, Va.; a daughter, Sherry Kuhn of Altoona; four stepchildren: Don Metz of McKees Rocks, Kathy Ceyrolles of Port Richey, Fla., Debra Moore of Pittsburgh and Mary Sue Weyandt of Altoona; 11 grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Carmine of Hollidaysburg; and a sister, Frances Otto of Hollidaysburg.

He was preceded in death by a son, James C.; and a sister, Lucy.

Mr. Fedesco served in the Navy Reserve for two years, the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean conflict and retired from the Pennsylvania National Guard after 33 years of service. He retired as a cook from The Dream Restaurant after 21 years of service.

Jim was a member of Second Avenue United Methodist Church. He served as a volunteer at Altoona Hospital.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Greg Johnson officiating.

Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, with military honors.
