From Mirror staff reports , The Altoona Mirror

Fire destroyed two Duncansville homes late Saturday night, leaving residents unharmed but homeless.

An American Red Cross Disaster Relief chapter for central Pennsylvania has assisted residents of the two homes with temporary housing, a firefighter at the scene on Sunday said.

The fire started at 851 Third Ave. and spread to a next-door residence at 849 Third Ave. Firefighters do not know what sparked the fire.

The firefighter at the scene Sunday afternoon called the homes "a total loss."

Response to the fire included members of the Duncansville Volunteer Fire Company, Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company of Hollidaysburg and Allegheny Township Volunteer Fire Department.
