Fink claims title at Sinking Valley in 2 extra holes

TYRONE - Artie Fink Jr. carded a 282 and won the Sinking Valley Club Championship on the second playoff hole against Chris Perry. Jimmy Ferguson (295) was third, and Ben DelBaggio III (300) was third.

Ryan Ruscio won the first flight with a 323, while Barry Himes (328) was second. John Taylor (330) took third, and Steve Turiano (334) was fourth.

Doug Buchanan won the second flight with a 159, while Bob Hunter (168) was second. Mike Robuck Sr. (169) was third, while Steve Jackson (171) was fourth, and John Muccitelli (172) was fifth. Tom Otto won the third flight with a 161, while Ron Kenner (173) was second. John Graham (175) was third, and Don Price (176) was fourth.

Rob Hippo won the fourth flight with a 181, while John Bernhart (182) was second, and Brian Cherry (184) and Bob Forshey (187) were third and fourth, respectively. Mike Ashcroft won the fifth flight with a 184, while Craig Dutrow (188) was second. Mike Gority and Paul Keirn tied for third at 189.

Suz Price won the ladies championship with a 170, while Anna Myers (187) was second. Jean Kelly (207) finished third, and Loane Maier (214) was fourth.

The team of Joe Saffin, Nick Lovrich, Paul Myers and Tom Jackson Sr. took first place in the Sinking Valley Country Club's Tuesday Night League.

Hole-in-one

Sam Calvin carded a hole-in-one on the King Valley Golf Course's 11th hole with a hybrid 5 wood on Monday. He was playing with Steve Frank, Chuck Myers and Dickie Miller.

Brady Lanning, Tim Noye Jr., Mike Gority and Kathleen Taylor finished second, and Dick Klaiber, Brian Kelly, John Stiffler and Sherrie Buchanan placed third.

Summit

CRESSON - Jay Pheasant, Bob Whiteman and Bob Hoffman carded a 124 and won a playoff against Bill Simanski, Larry Benton and Bob Maher to take first place in the Summit Country Club's three-man scramble last Saturday.

Dave States, Ken Simanski and Tom Muldoon (125) finished third. Quintin Dziabo, Bill Snyder and Dr. Ed Maruca scored a 128 and won a scorecard playoff for fourth against Al Simanski, Sam Callistro and Ron Burgoon.

Scotch Valley

Brian Smith scored a 148 to win the Scotch Valley Senior Club Championship, while Bill Good was second at 153.

Paul Propcheck took the first flight with a 164, while Harry Duey (170) was second. Dennis DeGol, Nikki Buchanan, Anthony DeGol and Catherine Herrera won the Leaders Flight of the couples golf event.

Harry Duey, Ellen Patterson, Jim Rea and Deb Rea won the Mid Flight with a 34, while Phil Sky, Roz Sky, Mickey Sisto and Chris Sisto placed second. Brian Irwin, Melissa Irwin, Brian Hall and Jen Hall took first in the Scotch Valley Flight with a 32, while Shawn McCarl, Kim McCarl, Josh Gibson and Kristine Gibson (34) took second.

Larry Buchanan, Debbie Buchanan, Mark Nelson and Shelly Nelson carded a 37 to take the Legends. Skill prize winners were Ann Sissler (longest drive on 1), Debbie Buchanan (closest to pin on 2), Phoebe Cohen (closest to cart path on 4) Nicole Buchanan (closest to 3 on the fifth shot), Chris Sisto (longest drive on 6), Michelle Day (closest to win on 8) and Deb Rea (longest putt on 9).

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Mary Jane Terza earned the Sylvan Hills Ladies Golf Association Club Championship on Tuesday, while Olga Romerowicz took second, and Connie Angeski was third.

Rita Brouse won the first flight, while Joanne Dandrea was second, and Brenda Flick was third. Linda King took the second flight, while Lynn Durbin was second, and Denise Madden was third.

The team of Jerome Landry, Harry Murphy, Brenda Flick and Rosey McCoy won the Sunday Scramble. David Snyder, Walt Bloom, Connie Angeski and Lynn Durbin took second, while Ron Bowser, Brian Walters, Virginia Smith and Kathleen Brinkmiller finished third.

Huntingdon

HUNTINGDON - Bill Kupchella carded a 39 for the low gross, and Bill Landis had the low net of 34 in the Huntingdon Country Club's Big Orange League.

Kupchella and Huggler netted eagles on the 13th hole, and Kupchella added another shot of the day with a drive to the green on 11.

Down River

EVERETT - Iron Masters Country Club defeated Down River Golf Club, 31-29, to win the fifth annual Iron River Cup on Sunday.
