Sister M. Grace Edward, O.Carm., died Saturday at Garvey Manor.

She was born in Port Carbon, Pa., daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Ocelus) Balulis.

She entered religious life on Feb. 2, 1958, as a Carmelite Sister for the Aged and Infirm.

She is survived by a sister, Lillian Mistishen and husband, Nicholas, of Port Carbon, Pa.; brother-in-law, James Schock of Lebanon; a niece; several nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Schock.

Sister M. Grace was a 1948 graduate of Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing, Allentown, Pa. She served as a registered nurse in Carmelite Homes in New York City, New Hampshire and Philadelphia, and for the past 32 years at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. She first served as a registered nurse, then in later years as Sacristan of the Chapel and In Pastoral Ministry.

During her religious life she manifested the qualities of gentleness, hospitality and prayerfulness. She was particularly devoted to the Blessed Mother and the Rosary. Sister M. Grace readily shared her endearing smile with all she met and sincerely prayed for all intentions entrusted to her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Garvey Manor Chapel, where a vigil will be held at 3 p.m.; and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Garvey Manor Chapel by Rev. Leonard Blostic T.O.R. Committal will be at Queen of Carmel Cemetery at Saint Teresa's Motherhouse, Germantown, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Garvey Manor's Benevolent Care Fund.

Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
