Kenneth Leroy Hoover, Jr., 58, formerly of Duncansville, died suddenly at his home in Flowery Branch, Ga., with his wife by his side on Thursday.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Dorothy Kimmel and Kenneth Leroy Hoover Sr. He married Muriel (Wagner) Disque on Sept. 5, 1992 in Newry.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Muriel; two sons: Kristopher Scot Hoover of Duncansville and Matthew Allen Hoover (Shelly) of Flowery Branch, Ga.; three stepchildren: Joshua Disque of Swoyersville, Pa., Melinda Disque (David Morris) of Home, Pa., and Ronald T. Disque, Jr. (Gail) of Brunswick, Md.; a brother, Richard D. Hoover (Betty) of Duncanville; a sister, Elaine Root (John) of Indian Land, S.C.; his parents-in-law: Ed and Ann Wagner of Flowery Branch, Ga.; six grandchildren: Blake and Ava Hoover, Hailey Disque, and Devon, Athena and Lillian Disque; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Duane Paul Hoover, of Miramar Beach, Fla.
Kenneth grew up in Duncansville. He attended Allegheny One Elementary School from 1960-1966. He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1972 and a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Ken worked at SKF Altoona for 19 years as a manufacturing engineer. In 2005, he moved to Flowery Branch, Ga., where he worked at SKF Flowery Branch. Ken was the senior manufacturing engineer.
Ken was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed landscaping, remote control cars and helicopters and electronics. He loved being 'Pap Pap' to his grandchildren. Ken will be dearly missed.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Bradley Runkle. Committal will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
