Penn State still isn't done with its 2013 recruiting class for football, but the Nittany Lions got a jump on next year by landing a verbal commitment Monday from 5-foot-7, 185-pound junior running back Mark Allen of DeMatha Catholic in Maryland, Allen's coach, Elijah Brooks confirmed to the Mirror.
Brooks said Allen also was getting early interest from Maryland, West Virginia and Wake Forest but committed to Penn State coach Bill O'Brien as soon as he was offered.
Allen has 682 yards rushing and six receptions for the Stags, who are 6-1 and only lost to national powerhouse Good Counsel, 13-10. Brooks describes Allen as an all-purpose back.
