James Burda Sr., 94, Portage, died Wednesday. He was born in Lilly, son of Paul and Anna (Murdza) Burda. Surviving are four children: Barbara Chelednik, Rosemary Pfeilstucker, James Jr. and Thomas; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Kuntz); and eight siblings: Anthony, Joseph, Walter, John, Steve, Stanley and Michael Burda and Helen Macidyn. He served in the South Pacific during WWII. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, Portage. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at St. Joseph Church, Father Walter Moll as celebrant.
