Constance ‘Connie’ Eager

Constance "Connie" Eager, 84, Cresson, passed away peacefully Friday at home.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Warren L. and Edith (Callan) Litzinger.

Surviving are two daughters: Joan Eager of Cresson and Jane Golden and husband, Deacon Richard, of Summerhill; five grandchildren: Rick Jr. (Bobbie) Golden, Amy (Mike) Bal, Matthew (Beth) Golden, Justine (Troy) Kunrod and Jolene (Casey) Myers; 14 great-grandchildren; and her special cats, Ruby and Pearl.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Eager; two sisters: Mary Jane Honeywell and Judy Connacher; and two brothers: Wayne Litzinger and infant Thomas.

Connie was a 1945 graduate of the former Mount Aloysius Academy and a 1947 graduate of the Mount's Junior College. She was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Cresson, and an associate member of the Legion of Mary. She loved to sing and in her youth was a regular participant in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera's Broadway productions, including "Showboat," "Red Mill" and "Babes in Toyland."

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be held at 3 p.m. as well as a vigil prayer service. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at St. Aloysius Church, the Very Rev. John Byrnes as celebrant. Committal will be at Sherbine Cemetery, Summerhill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Windber Hospice or All Saints Catholic School, Cresson.
