Many of my Republican friends are very loyal to their party. However, John McGinnis' loyalty is to the tea party, especially its Philadelphia faction.
Richard Flarend is a moderate Democrat who will support those who provide services we need: our professional and volunteer firefighters, our police officers and our teachers.
His policies are founded on his concern for this community. He has been an active volunteer in various Altoona organizations for years.
He has a special interest in education and has volunteered to provide science programs in local schools and at the Quaint Corner Children's Museum.
Because he is a scientist, he will be able to weigh the pros and cons of energy and environmental issues.
I know both candidates and consider both my friends, but when it comes to who I think is best for Altoona and for Pennsylvania, Flarend has my vote.
