Bedford Springs plans activities

BEDFORD - Omni Bedford Springs Resort has announced some of its upcoming activities:

n Turkey Trot 5K run/walk will be held Nov. 23. This will be the resort's first on-property run/walk since its reopening. It will be a 3.1-mile course, mostly on recently-updated hiking/biking trails to our Red Oak Lake and back; mostly over natural terrain with some steep areas. T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 preregistered participants. Cost is $20 for runners, $10 for walkers, $10 for student runners with ID.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. near the golf gazebo; race begins at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest male and fastest female. General manager Lee Bowden will be leading the race on his ATV through the trails. This event will be held rain or shine. To register, contact the resort concierge at 623-8100.

n Resort holiday illumination will be held Nov. 25 with a grand lighting of our resort, including a large Christmas tree in the front lawn area. There will be live music, Santa and Mrs. Claus, sleigh rides along the property. The event will begin at 2 p.m. with the tree lighting at 4:30 p.m.

Other activities include:

n Christmas carolers (from local high schools) and other performers in our main lobby from 4 to 6 p.m. Fridays starting Nov. 23 and Saturdays 3 to 5 p.m. starting Nov. 24.

n Elf Tuck-Ins for families staying with us Friday evenings in late November through the end of December.

n Gingerbread house decorating at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 8, 15, 22.

n Breakfast with Santa 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays in December;

n Thanksgiving Feast (buffet) on Thanksgiving in our Colonnade Ballroom;

n Christmas Eve dinner buffet and Christmas Day brunch;

n The resort will be holding sleigh rides throughout the month of December and will be holding occasional Nutcracker Teas (sandwiches, desserts, holiday teas with local ballerinas performing from "The Nutracker").
