Margaret A. ‘Mickey’ Brown

Margaret A. "Mickey" Brown, 92, Mount Lebanon, Pittsburgh, died Tuesday at Providence Point Personal Care Home, Mount Lebanon, after a brief illness.

She was born in Juniata, Altoona, daughter of the late Harrison and Annie (Cassarly) Barr. She married John D. "Jack" Brown on July 7, 1947, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altoona, and he died June 11, 2003.

Surviving are four children: Susan Willis of Bethlehem, Ga., Louise Peterman and husband, Charles, of Indiana, Pa., Theresa Krzemien and husband, Attorney Louis Krzemien, of Pittsburgh and Terrance and wife, Linda, of Fletcher, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mickey was a 1937 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and a graduate of Misericordia Hospital Nursing School. She served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps as a lieutenant junior grade in WWII. She retired in 1985 as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, and she previously had worked as a registered nurse in the maternity ward at Altoona Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
