Gloria Ruth (Corrado) Sinisi

Gloria R. Sinisi, 87, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Altoona Regional with her beloved husband, John, and nephew and niece, Anthony D. and Nancy S. Sinisi, at her side.

She was born at home in Bellwood, daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Bonney) Corrado. She married John A. Sinisi on Dec. 12, 1970, at St. Mark Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, who was the light and love of her life; a sister, Marjorie Hamer; four sisters-in-law: Patricia, Irene and Marjorie Corrado, all in Pennsylvania, and Floryne Sinisi in New Jersey; nieces and nephews: Vicki (Dan) Chilcote, Terrie (Daryl) Clark, Rodney (Vicki) and Todd (Millie) Hamer, Judy Stanton, Michael, Linda Kay and Jimmy Corrado, Tony (Penny), David (Carolyn), John A. and Father Daniel Sinisi, T.O.R., Mary Ann Stacey and Lorraine Penhos; 18 great-nieces and great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Gloria is also survived by her extra-special nephew and niece, Anthony D. and Nancy S. Sinisi of Hollidaysburg, who lovingly cared for her health and welfare for the past three years.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronald, Albert and Robert Corrado.

Gloria was a 1944 graduate of Bellwood High School. She worked at many local food stores, including Country Garden Market, where she was famous for her meatball sandwiches. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Gloria enjoyed traveling with her husband to the annual 82nd Airborne WWII survivor reunions, and she was an avid collector of bells.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

In memory of Gloria, contributions may be given to Garvey Manor Nursing Home.
