Name: Alexia Servello
High school: Hollidaysburg
Hometown: Hollidaysburg
Sport: Basketball
Position: Point guard
College choice: Shippensburg University
Other colleges considered: West Point, West Chester, Southern Connecticut, Baker, Holy Family, East Stroudsburg
Why I picked Shippensburg: "It was a perfect fit for me both in academics and basketball. I was looking for a school where I could go and contribute right away.''
Greatest high school achievement: "Helping lead Altoona to back-to-back District 6 Class AAAA championships, being named a captain as a junior, leading the team in assists and being named to the all-tournament team at the McKeesport tournament.''
Coach Deanna Jubeck's quote: "Even though Lexi has been with the program a short time, she exhibits great communication and leadership skills. Shippensburg is gaining a very reliable point guard with good basketball skills.''
How I got my start playing basketball: "When I was younger, the sport was soccer. But all of my friends tried out for basketball, so I did and was one of the worst players. My dad asked me if I wanted to be a basketball player, and he and Coach [John] Swogger and all of my coaches helped me become a great point guard. I work every day on basketball skills.''
Favorite college growing up: Duquesne
Other interests: Having fun with friends and occasionally playing soccer
What getting to play in college means to me: "It means a lot. I started when I was in second grade, and ever since my parents and coaches helped me so much toward my dream of playing after high school. Being able to go to a school where I can contribute right away means the world to me.''
Probable college major: Physical therapy
Parents: Rose and Gibby Servello
