Dorothy Naomi Zajac, 86, Altoona, went to eternal rest Thursday afternoon at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert C. and Margaret (Smith) Sager. She married Joseph T. Zajac on June 28, 1947, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are her husband; five children: Julie Thaler of Gallitzin, Dr. Thomas Zajac and wife, Mary, of Altoona, Linda Tang and husband, Ming, of Williamsburg, Va., Alan Zajac and wife, Dona, of Highland, N.Y., and Anita McClellan of Altoona; six grandchildren: Matthew Thaler, Dr. Jonathan Thaler, Jessica Haritos, Brian and Marc Zajac and Athena Tang; four step-grandchildren: Eric Chamberlain, Autumn Keenan, Dr. Marlena Tang and Marc Tang; three great-grandchildren: Lianna, Brett and Alex Thaler; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are four siblings: Mary McCartney, Katherine Rider, Reta Smeal and Robert Sager.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Gramly and Gloria Dunn; and a brother, Warren Sager.
Dorothy was a 1944 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School. She retired in 1988 as a cashier at The Sandwich Works, Altoona, with 10 years of service. Previously she had worked at Warnaco for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Dorothy was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved having her family at home for the holidays and enjoyed cooking meals for those special occasions and other visits. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona, Father Ronald V. Osinski officiating. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
