One man is in custody as Altoona police seized weed eaters, a snow blower, GPS units and other suspected stolen goods from a Spruce Avenue home.
Christopher K. Anderson, 29, of 2813 Spruce Ave., was arrested at just after 2 p.m. without incident after Altoona police linked Anderson to a reported burglary on the 1200 block of Walton Avenue Sunday morning, police said.
According to Altoona police, Anderson allegedly used a credit card reported stolen in Sunday's burglary at an area Sheetz convenience store. Through video surveillence at the store officers were able to identify Anderson, who has an extensive criminal history involving thefts spanning the past seven years, and track him down at his home.
Police said inside they found a large cache of suspected stolen goods that included miscellaneous tools, a small welder, a pressure washer and other electronic items. Police believe the items were taken over the past month or longer and residents are asked to check their homes, garages, vehicles and sheds for signs of a break-in.
Victims will need to show something that identifies their missing property such as a receipt or serial number, Altoona police Detective Matthew Starr said.
Starr said Altoona police arrested Anderson earlier this year for breaking into cars. Court records show Anderson pleaded guilty in three theft cases this year, including two felony theft from a motor vehicle and one misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle counts.
Anderson was taken to Central Booking in Hollidaysburg and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson. Anderson was lodged in Blair County Prison after failing to post $20,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is slated for Wednesday at Central Court.
Police ask that anyone who may believe their stolen items to among those confiscated are asked to call Altoona police at 949-2489.
