John A. Hooper Jr., 65, Altoona, died Thursday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Dorothy (Weamer) Hooper. He married Helen M. Cotter on June 13, 1987.
Surviving are his wife; a sister, JoAnn Burger-Rudasill of Hollidaysburg; a nephew, Gregory Burger (Penny) of Duncansville; and a great-nephew, Matthew Burger.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Ronald Burger.
John retired as a dock foreman, bundle handler and short runner from the Altoona Mirror after more than 22 years of service. He was of the Methodist faith, and he was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, United Veterans Association and Unter Uns. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.
