Getting fed up with Thanksgiving sales

December 2, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

The pushing, shoving and knocking people to the ground on Black Friday make me realize how many immature adults there are.

Most of these so-called adults who stand in line all night to save a couple lousy dollars would never, ever consider being out in all types of weather if they had to work in it.

Furthermore, any store that can give a discount on an item and still make a profit on Black Friday can do it at that price all year-round.

It is sort of like when they say, "Buy One, Get One Free." Watch the prices, and you will see how they are raised on the first item to compensate for the so-called free item.

Why do the stores do this? Because they know we are all suckers, and we have little common sense when we think we are getting a deal.

If we were to multiply the hours standing in line, either to get into the store or at the checkout, by minimum wage you would see that we lost money.

My time is more valuable than waiting all night to save $10.

Move April Fool's Day to Black Friday and rename it Turkey Fool's Day.

One final thought: Has anyone stopped to ask themselves: Is opening the stores on Thanksgiving what Thanksgiving is all about?

Gobble, gobble!
