Dorothy L. "Dot" Bookhamer, 80, Altoona, died Saturday morning at Valley View Home, following a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Louis A. and Martha (McDermott) Schmerbeck. She married Robert J. Bookhamer Sr. on June 25, 1960, in Altoona. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2000.
Surviving are two children: a daughter, Bonnie L. Hoover and her husband, Don, of Altoona; a son, Robert J. Jr., at home; three grandchildren: DJ, Joey and Chelsea; and two great-grandchildren: Camden and Zoee.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Louis A. "Bud" Schmerbeck and R. Wayne Schmerbeck; and a sister, Lois T. Kreuz.
Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School.
She retired from Sylvania ECG-Phillips in 1988, with over 30 years of service.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling, Bingo and taking road trips with her family. She was the very first recipient of the Female Bowler of the Year in 1965.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
