Concerts praised

December 13, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

I cannot sit back and permit the "Sing and Celebrate Christmas" Concert go by without a mention in our paper. This concert was presented by Hollidaysburg Alumni Community Chorus with Jim Worthing and was conducted by Sandy Harteis.

A special performance by Children's Community Chorus was conducted by Bonnie Ebersole. It was a delightful presentation that should make us all proud of our local singing talents and Hollidaysburg for sponsoring the concert.

Worthing made Altoona proud. We are so lucky to have him going throughout the United States and the world, stating he is from Altoona.

One of the highlights was the "Little Drummer Boy" with the drum lines from Hollidaysburg Area Junior and Senior High schools. You should be proud of these units.

One quick note about The Altoona Symphony Orchestra's "Holiday Extravaganza" on Dec 1. Maestra Teresa Cheung, gave us an exquisite, edgy, enthusiastic holiday spirit in music.

The best number of the evening was "Away In The Manager." The choirs from Frankstown Elementary with Mary Villani and Bellwood Middle School with Jennifer Wright added a heavenly touch to the number.

Everyone in Altoona needs to go to one of ASO's concerts. They have a special for the last two concerts for March 2 and April 6. Try to attend these concerts. Your rewards will be enormous.
