Common ground needed on transportation funds

December 26, 2012
The Altoona Mirror

The recent news coverage and editorials regarding Gov. Tom Corbett's announcement to push for a multimodal funding solution for Pennsylvania's transportation system early next year have been very encouraging and long overdue.

A well-funded transportation system is very important to me personally, my family, our local economy and Pennsylvania as a whole.

Comprehensive funding provides highway safety, vehicle congestion relief, local jobs, statewide economic prosperity and an overall better quality of life for all Pennsylvania residents.

I sincerely hope and pray our elected representatives and the Corbett administration can soon come together, find common ground and approve this initiative as quickly as possible.

Local and statewide employers are poised and ready to bid new highway construction projects, call back laid-off workers and hire new employees to rebuild our state's transportation infrastructure.
