Lucia Giardino, 66, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Friday at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Castel San Giorgio, Italy, daughter of the late Sebastian and Filomena Ferrentino. She married John R. Giardino on Jan. 10, 1976.
Surviving are her husband; four children: Theresa (Doug) Steberger, Jennifer (Tom) Gehrdes, Joanne Giardino and John Giardino, all of Altoona; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Mitchell and Jocelyn; and two sisters and three brothers, all in Italy.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Lucia was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
Donations may be given to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
