Leroy E. Bennett Jr., 78, of 202 Meade St., Tyrone, died Tuesday at Tyrone Hospital.
He was born in Halfmoon Township, Centre County, son of Leroy Edward Sr. and Frances Jane (Casher) Bennett. He married Estella M. Thompson on March 8, 1956.
Surviving are his wife; four children: Joseph, Cindy Snyder (Jay), Jeffrey and Steven (Tonia), all of Tyrone; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Shirley) of State College; a sister, Sandra McCutcheon of Port Matilda; and an aunt and uncle, Jack and Mildred Bennett of Port Matilda.
Leroy was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean era. He retired March 1, 1996, from Corning Glass, State College, after more than 12 years of service. He was a member of the Hookies Fire Company and VFW Post 4559.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. Interment will be at Friends Cemetery, Centre County.
