Richard Thomas Luther Sr., 73, Pasadena, Md., formerly of 2115 18th St., Altoona, died Thursday morning at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Stanley M. and Madeline M. (Crist) Luther. He married Carolyn Sue Clinger on Jan. 28, 1967, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.

Surviving are his wife; three children: Richard T. Jr. and wife, Susan, of Lititz, Mary Smith of New Holland and Carol A. Quick and husband, Lance, of Pasadena, Md.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and eight siblings: Joanne Stephens and William, both of Duncansville, Mary Catherine Douglas of Reisterstown, Md., James of Altoona, Jerry of Williamstown, N.J., Michael of Richmond, Va., Patty Sipes of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and Cindy Bryan of Goose Creek, S.C.

Dick attended Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the Vietnam War. He retired in September 2001 as a driver/salesman at Industrial Uniform & Towel with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 551, and a member of Teamsters Local Union 110.

Dick enjoyed spending time with his family, working around the house and yard, gardening, model trains and working on his car and truck.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
