Lena M. Grassi, 103, Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, passed away Monday at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Vincenzo and Carmella (Mignogna) Grassi.
Surviving are a sister, Etta Pastore of Altoona; a sister-in-law, Shirley Grassi; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by five siblings: Oliver Grassi, Esther Pellegrino, Titina Cima, Mary Pompa and Herman Grassi.
Lena worked at the Juniata Silk Mill and as a cook at the Venetian Gardens and Penn Alto Hotel. She was also the proprietor of Lena's Grocery Store in Altoona and Atlantic City. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the A&J Iaia American Legion Post. She enjoyed children, bingo and crossword puzzles.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Mark's Church by Father Ron Osinski. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
In memory of Lena, contributions may be given to St. Mark's Church.
