In listening to the debate over gun control, I heard an interesting perspective from James Taylor, the singer/songwriter.
I'm not certain why Taylor was asked to weigh in, other than the fact that he is famous and all of us know that famous people are the most qualified to dictate public policy.
Regardless, his comment, "We need to make some sacrifices to our [Second Amendment] freedoms to what we might want to have, in order to safeguard our children."
I find it even more curious that Taylor is pro-choice.
He feels that what happens to a woman's body should be her sovereign right. It seems perfectly logical to him that, if a woman has an unwanted pregnancy, it should be her "right" to have control over her body, regardless of the rights of the life within her or the rights of the father of that child.
Maybe Taylor should consider his own advice.
Maybe we, as a society, do need to make some sacrifices to our freedoms and what we might want to have in order to safeguard our children.
