DuBois dominated the newly formed District 4-9 Tournament over the weekend at Clarion University, outdistancing fellow District 9 foe Clearfield by 59 points, 182.5-123.5, and crowning seven champions. District 4's Shikellamy finished third with 119 points.
Unbeaten Tom Sleigh (170) and once-beaten Landon Hanna (195) are among the champs for the Beavers. Clearfield's Christian Stone won the 132-pound title, and he found himself in a scoring spree in the semifinals, outlasting Jersey Shore's Hayden Swartwood, 26-14.
McLane, McDowell dominate
General McLane and McDowell dominated the District 10 Class AAA Tournament, with each team winning five titles and McLane taking the team title by 14 points, 216-202.
Also, East High School's Deiontre Plott might have set a record for the fastest pin in the state. The 285-pounder decked Meadville's Caleb Prater in 4 seconds in the consolation semifinals. Plott then lost to General McLane's Ian Mallory, 6-5, in the consy finals.
Nolf continues roll
Kittanning's 2011 state champion and 2012 state third-placer Jason Nolf continued to roll along, beating Keystone Oaks' Nick Zanetta, 3-0, in the 132-pound finals of the District 7 Class AA Tournament.
Charleroi's Nick Gavazzi (32-0 at 138), Jefferson Morgan's Dustin Conti (34-0 at 170) and Burrell's Dakota DesLauriers (29-0 at 182) remained unbeaten, although Conti had to outlast South Fayette's Mike Fetchet, 7-6 in overtime, in the finals.
