Joseph E. Dillon Jr., 80, Sproul, passed away Saturday at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Bellwood, son of the late Joseph E. Sr. and Lena (Blazer) Dillon. He married Marguerite E. Aungst on Nov. 26, 1952, in East Freedom.
He is survived by his wife of Sproul; a daughter, Joy S. Claar and husband, C. Richard, of East Freedom; a son, Ricky Dillon and wife, Tonya, of Roaring Spring; four grandchildren: Brian, Teresa, Brock and Matthew; four great-grandchildren: Samantha, Rachael, Jeremy and Benjamin; a brother, Charles Eckard of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Josephine Blazevich of Claysburg.
Joe attended the East Freedom United Methodist Church.
He retired as a tow motor operator from Champion Homes, Claysburg, in 1997 and previously was employed at the Sproul brickyard.
He enjoyed music and played music all of his life. His band, the Country Travelers, was well known throughout the area.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastors Emilia Florio and Ronald Bashore officiating. Interment will be at Sproul Cemetery.
