Richard C. "Dick" Beck, 74, Duncansville, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away Wednesday at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Floyd L. "Pete" and Ruth (Raible) Beck. He married Peggy A. Gearhart on Jan. 30, 1960, in Lakemont.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Richard Jr. of Roaring Spring; two daughters: Brenda May and husband, Tom, of Duncansville and Criss Heltzel of Martinsburg; two grandsons: Tyler Beck and Derek May; a sister, Joanne Harris and husband, Jim, of Warrenton, Va.; three brothers: Raymond and wife, Donna, and William and wife, Linda, all of Hollidaysburg, and Robert and wife, Deb, of Duncansville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandy Creamer.
Dick was a 1956 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army and 35 years in the National Guard, achieving the rank of first sergeant. He retired as a truck driver in 1999 from Charlton Brothers Transportation.
Dick was a member of Leamersville Church of the Brethren and King Valley Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, computer games and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, Pastor Stephen Durr officiating.
