CALIFORNIA - A California University of Pennsylvania basketball player has been charged with raping a female student after a party in a housing complex.
Online court records don't list an attorney for 19-year-old Jeremy Posey, of Huntingdon, a sophomore on the state-owned school's basketball team.
The (Washington) Observer-Reporter reported Posey was arraigned on charges he raped the student, who is also 19, at an apartment in Vulcan Village early Saturday.
The woman told police Posey followed her to her room when she tried to go to sleep about 4 a.m. that day and then sodomized her while she lay motionless.
Police said the woman produced a text message from Posey showing that he allegedly knew she was awake during the incident.
A university spokeswoman said the school is supporting the alleged victim and that Posey faces school discipline, too.
