Raymond A. Hazenstab, 81, East Freedom, died Tuesday at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in East Freedom, son of the late Regis and Annie (Maher) Hazenstab. He married Mary Ellen Roarabaugh on Aug. 31, 1957, in Williamsburg.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years; a daughter, Cindy L. Brumbaugh and husband, Buck, of Martinsburg; two sons: Michael R. and wife, Diane, and Kevin P., all of East Freedom; a grandson, Jerremiah; and a brother, Robert of Duncansville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Olene Singel; and five brothers: Thomas, Patrick, Eugene, Roger and John.
Raymond was a 1950 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1952-54. He retired from Appleton Papers Inc. after 30 years of service as an equipment operator. He was a life member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, and a life member of the Bavarian Aid Society.
Raymond enjoyed farming, taking family vacations to Tennessee and especially telling stories.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held at 12:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, by Monsignor Anthony B. Little. Committal will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
