Bernadette M. Diehl, 85, Claysburg, passed away Sunday at home.
She was born in Duncansville, daughter of the late Thomas and Evelyn (McMullen) Noel. She married Charles E. "Sam" Diehl on Feb. 28, 1947, in Winchester, Va., and he passed away March 2, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters: Cathy S. Cerully and husband, Denny, of East Freedom and Susan K. Reighard and husband, Mike, of Hollidaysburg; a son, Samuel C. and wife, Maggie, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores McNeeley of Chester; and two brothers: Pete Noel of Oil City and Bob Noel of Lakemont.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bowers; six sisters; and two brothers.
Bernadette was a 1946 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She retired from Cove Shoe Co., Martinsburg, after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Thomas More Chapel, Claysburg, as well as a member and volunteer at the Claysburg Senior Center, where she enjoyed the morning exercise class and her friends.
Bernadette also enjoyed baking, especially cookies, and liked flowers, gardening, yard work and visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, followed by a funeral liturgy outside of Mass at 6 p.m., Father Leo Lynch, pastor at St. Thomas More Parish, officiating. Interment will be at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Claysburg Senior Center or her church.
