Florence C. Boyd, 96, formerly of 517 Oak St., Tyrone, and a resident of Altoona Center for Nursing Care for the past three years, died Tuesday at the center.
She was born in Northwood, Tyrone, daughter of the late Ira John and Mabel (Mattern) Cupp. She married Levi G. Boyd on Dec. 15, 1939, in Alexandria, and he died May 5, 1976.
Surviving are a son, Terry L. (Joann M.) of Altoona; a grandson, Rodney A. DeFrancesco of Altoona; a great-grandson, Joseph A. DeFrancesco of Spruce Creek; and a special person, Anita Rhodes of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Perry Cupp; and a sister, Catherine Morrissey.
Florence had been employed as an inspector at the Chicago Rivet & Machine Co. and was a paper stuffer at the Tyrone Daily Herald. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone, and enjoyed cooking, baking and being with her family.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, April 5, 2013, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, the Rev. Ed Harshbarger officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone.
