Area events planned in Hollidaysburg, DuBois, Johnstown, Indiana
Walk MS 2013 will be held on April 21 at the Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School, beginning with registration at 1 p.m. and the walk commencing at 2 p.m.
The Keystone Branch of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host walks to raise money for MS research, education and direct patient services and equipment.
The route of the three-mile walk is handicapped-accessible and the walkers will be led by Steve Kelsey of WFGY-FM and Joe Murgo of WTAJ TV.

According to Sharon O'Keiff, manager of the Keystone Branch Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, approximately 1,000 walkers are expected to participate to reach the goal of $83,000. Walkers collect flat donations.
Walk MS is the society's signature fundraising event across the nation.
"The monies raised from Walk MS 2013 will help improve the quality of life for the 7,500 people with MS living in Western Pennsylvania," O'Keiff said. "Walk MS and other events raise essential funds for research, education, and direct services for people with MS along with their families and caregivers. In a sense, we can truthfully say that we're walking toward a world free of MS."
At the conclusion of the walk, participants are invited to gather for food, refreshments and entertainment hosted by Kelsey and featuring guitarist Steve Summerhill.
The MS Walk 2013 platinum sponsor is Peoples Natural Gas.
Western Pennsylvania sponsors are Sam's Club, Novartis Biogen Idec, Genzyme.

In addition to raising funds for medical research and education, the Multiple Sclerosis Society provides direct patient and family services such as medical equipment, ramps, home and auto modifications, air conditioners, as well as wellness, exercise, family support and crisis assistance.
College scholarships are available to high school seniors diagnosed with MS or whose parent is diagnosed with MS.
