James D. Burk, 86, Hollidaysburg, died early Tuesday morning at Altoona Regional.
He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of Edwin C. and Bessie M. (Gates) Burk.
Surviving are a son, Patrick and wife, Susan; two stepdaughters: Tami and Laurie; a grandson, Michael Burk; two great-granddaughters: Emily and Kate Burk; and two sisters: Marjorie Ginter and Ruth A. Newcomb.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Burk; and two brothers: Eugene and Clifford.
James was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, serving as a gunner on the USS Independence in the Pacific Theater. He retired from Penelec as a general foreman with more than 40 years of service in the Altoona district.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Friday, May 3, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, the Rev. Jaime G. Olson officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
