LEADING OFF: 1B Matt Curry underwent surgery on his right hand Wednesday after suffering a broken hamate bone Saturday at Erie. That injury typically sidelines a player for two months or more, so the Curve will be without one of their best hitters for a significant time. Curry is hitting .248 and is second on the team with 16 RBIs and third with four homers.
SAFE AT FIRST: Andrew Lambo played 1B Thursday and likely will get the bulk of the time there with Curry injured. Stefan Welch and Alex Dickerson also can play 1B.
STEALING SECOND: RHP Jeff Inman was placed on the DL Thursday with an elbow injury. Inman came out of Wednesday's game in the ninth inning at Harrisburg. RHP Jason Townsend came off the DL, while IF Justin Howard (right ankle) went on.
ROUNDING THIRD: Zack Thornton was promoted to the Curve from high-A Bradenton, where he was 2-1 with a 1.93 ERA and three saves.
HEADING HOME: Former Curve IF Jim Negrych is off to an incredible start for Triple-A Buffalo, hitting .427 through 25 games. Negrych, who hit for the cycle two weeks ago, has three homers, 17 RBIs, 13 doubles, a .477 on-base percentage and a staggering 1.154 OPS.
