Samuel L. DelGrande Jr., 66, Cresson, died Thursday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born in Johnson City, Tenn., son of the late Samuel L. Sr. and Minnie (Hardin) DelGrande. He married Joyce Moses on Feb. 13, 1965.
Surviving are his wife; seven children: Denise Montgomery (Bobby) of Kingsport, Tenn., Samuel III (Loni) of King George, Va., Anthony (Carrie Tickerhoof), Andrew (Sandy Cochran) and Dominic, all of Cresson, Angela Noel (Glenn) of Lilly and Giovanni (Jessica) of Johnson City, Tenn.; and 20 grandchildren: Josh and Zachery Bender, Emily, Tre, Lynnsey, Sam IV, Braedon, Easton, Mercedeze, Taila, Romi, Drew, Nicholas, Elijha, Noah, Luke, Xavier, Jacob, Gianni and Gabriella.
He also is survived by five siblings: Nancy Szypala (Ronald) of Cresson, James (Jeannie) of Lilly, Diane Vaughn (James Sr.) of Munster, Vivian Fitzsimmons of Cresson and Debby Glunt of Altoona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Franco J.; his stepfather, Sybert Gallagher; and his parents-in-law, Leroy and Ida Mae Moses.
Samuel retired as a welder/burner with Bethlehem Steel and Johnstown America car shops. He loved Jesus, his family, his motorcycles, gambling, hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at Cresson Alliance Church by Pastor Stephen Hall. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
