After Newtown's massacre of innocent children, amazingly local tea party hicks and gun rights supporters recently assembled in Harrisburg stupidly proclaiming, "The safety of their families is at stake."
Have they been hibernating in a hole? Obviously, public safety is a lesser consequence compared to today's horrific gun death rate they ignore.
When the Boston Marathon was bombed, where were all the NRA supporters who should been there securing public safety with their guns?
Parts of the city were later placed on lockdown while heavily armed police with assault weapons, helmets and body armor went house-to-house, terrifying residents searching for a 19-year-old kid. Wait a minute: Isn't this the very thing that the NRA wants to avoid from happening, having an armed authority invading your home and disrupting your privacy?
Having gun crazies hoarding assault weapons and ammunition didn't prevent that occurrence from happening, did it? Police now have to arrive at an incident with military style weaponry to match what the NRA thinks anyone should have the right to own.
If children or bystanders happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, they'll be riddled with bullets, arriving at a hospital pulverized like hamburger. That could be you or your family. Pull a gun out in self defense and you're dead meat for sure.
The paranoia, insecurity and fear that the NRA pushes is backward, moronic and asinine.
Yet supposedly intelligent people keep swallowing it. Ninety percent of the public wants more gun regulation for our own safety, not more guns.
Circulating more of them is clearly not the solution to achieve any safety.
The NRA remains unconcerned about the senseless gun slaughter and unfortunately, we have local politicians and dumbbells shackling everybody into their gun killing culture.
God help America.
