Barry R. Helsel, 57, Claysburg, passed away Monday at home.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of Dorothy (Brown) Helsel and the late James I. Helsel Sr.
Surviving are his mother of Claysburg; a son, Eric J. and wife, Danielle, of Claysburg; two granddaughters: Tehia Brown and Layla Helsel; two step-grandchildren: Damien and Mateya; his longtime girlfriend, Brandy Kane; three brothers: Mike and John of Claysburg and Jeff of Altoona; three sisters: Tina Taylor of Imler, Jackie Dively of Claysburg and Lisa Helsel of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Jr.
Barry was a 1973 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of the NRA, North American Fishing Club and North American Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, Pastor James Neatrour officiating. Interment will be at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family.
