CLP plans 'Fiddler'
LORETTO - Cresson Lake Playhouse will present the classic musical "Fiddler on the Roof" from June 20 through July 6 at the playhouse.
Performances will be 8 p.m. June 20-22, June 25-29 and July 2-6 and 2 p.m. June 23 and June 30.
"Fiddler on the Roof" features a famous score includes the classic songs "Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset."
Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for students under age 18. Tickets can be purchased by calling 472-4333 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Tickets will also be available at the door.
GAEDC sets concerts
The Greater Altoona Economic Development Corporation has announced the dates and lineup for the 12th season of the "Summer Sounds" Concert Series.
The free concerts will be held at Heritage Plaza along 11th Avenue in downtown Altoona. Food establishments from around the area will again provide great pizza, wings, chicken and pork sandwiches. Cold beverages will also be available.

June 28 - Randy Jackson and Friends
July 19 - Felix and the Hurricanes
July 26 - The Fabulous Flashbacks
Aug 9 - Quintessence

Proceeds from the sales of refreshments at the concerts go towards area arts non-profits and groups including the Altoona Area Public Library, the Altoona Symphony Orchestra and Heritage Discovery Center.
Arts festival opens exhibit
UNIVERSITY PARK - The HUB-Robeson Galleries will host "Images 2013: The Juried Exhibition of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts" from June 5 through July 14 in the Robeson Gallery.
An opening reception for the event will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 7.
This year's juror is Joyce Robinson, a curator at the Palmer Museum of Art, an affiliate associate professor of art history and vice president of the board of the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

Comic Burr to play Heinz
PITTSBURGH - Live Nation will present actor/comedian Bill Burr at 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at Heinz Hall.
Burr is one of the top touring comedians today, with three Comedy Central standup specials, and has a recurring role on the AMC series "Breaking Bad." His Monday Morning Podcast is one of the most downloaded comedy podcasts on iTunes.

CLP offering workshop
EBENSBURG - Cresson Lake Playhouse will present its Summer Acting Workshop for eighth grade through college freshmen from June 10 to 14 at the CLP Rehearsal Hall, 526 W. Ogle St.
Instructor Ryan Skiles will teach four modules of study throughout the week: Movement for Actors, Acting, Voice for Actors and Showcase Preparation and Performance.
The cost of the workshop is $250. A $50 non-refundable deposit will be due to Cresson Lake Playhouse if you choose to pre-register online.
The deposit will secure your spot for the session you have selected. The final payment of $200 is due by June 10.

Rock bands to perform
AnEmergencyScene will present a concert featuring Equal Vision Records artists Northern Faces, Razor And Tie artist Born Cages, Jimmy Mowery, Lone Wolf, Anchors To Anchors and Hollow Bear at 5 p.m. May 31 at The Archway Center, 401 5th Ave., Altoona.
Northern Faces is from Albany, N.Y., and recently released their debut EP, "Southern Places," via the label. Born Cages is from New York City; their debut album will be released this summer. They were featured as one of "The 100 Bands You Need To Know" this year by Alt. Press.

SAMA curator to speak
LORETTO - The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Loretto's new curatorial lecture series, "Conversations with the Curator: A Lecture-and-Lunch Series for Art Lovers and Collectors," will continue at 12:15 p.m. June 13.
The program includes a 45-minute talk by SAMA curator for visual arts, Scott Dimond, as well as a box lunch. An informal question and answer period will follow.
The June program is titled "American Illustration: A Hands-On History."
