LEADING OFF: Pirates RHP James McDonald, recovering from shoulder inflammation, is scheduled to rehab with the Curve today. It will be McDonald's second start in Peoples Natural Gas Field. He started when the Pirates and Curve played an exhibition game March 30.
SAFE AT FIRST: Manager Carlos Garcia was ejected for the second straight game for arguing with the umpire. 2B Jarek Cunningham was also tossed for arguing balls and strikes.
STEALING SECOND: C Miguel Perez saw his first action of the season action for the Curve. He played in one game with the Curve last season and had a hit Sunday.
ROUNDING THIRD: SS Gift Ngoepe struggled for much of the season, but in Saturday's game he was 3-for-5, and he had a triple Sunday. "It feels good after struggling and battling," he said. "A few line drives here, a few strike three calls when they shouldn't have been. This game is tough and you've go to keep playing."
HEADING HOME: Previous Curve records that were tied or broken Sunday: 19 runs in a game (done twice), 22 hits (vs. Richmond April 20, 2012), longest nine-inning game at home (3:44 on July 30, 1999), nine runs in an inning (July 31, 2003 at Akron).
