Judy Ann Russ, 65, Altoona, died Saturday at her residence.
She was born in New Kensington, Pa., daughter of the late John and Lois (Thompson) Deegan. She married Todd L. Russ on June 12, 1982, in Delmont, Pa.
Judy is survived by her husband; a daughter, Amy Heer Frederick (James) of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren: Riley Frederick, Gaige Heer, Nicholas Frederick and Andrew Frederick; a brother, John Deegan (Peggy) of Maryville, Tenn.; a sister, Cheryl Everly (Fred) of Morgantown, W.V.; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Locklear.
She was predeceased by a son, Aaron Heer; and a sister, Elayne Schwarzel.
Judy was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church where she was very active in the church.
She retired in 2005 as an apartment manager for Improved Dwellings of Altoona.
She was a 1966 graduate of Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville.
Judy was a Girl Scout leader for 17 years, a mother advisor and a member of the International Order of Rainbow Girls and enjoyed sewing and quilting, boating at Raystown and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary, 1421 Eighth Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Greenwood United Methodist Church by the Rev Joe Fleck. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
